My laptop of 7+ years struggled a bit with GW2, even with graphics settings at their lowest or off. So for my birthday I wanted a replacement. I originally considered a big, heavy gaming laptop like an Acer Predator 17 but when I saw a friend's thin and light Dell running GW2 with aplomb, then I knew that's the way I wanted to go when on the road. Dell XPS 15 (model 9560): i7-7700HQ Quad Core, NVIDIA 4GB GeForce GTX 1050, Killer 1535 Wireless 802.11ac 2x2 WiFi & BT 4.1, Windows 10 Pro. Then I upgraded the memory to 32GB using Kingston HyperX Impact 2400MHz DDR4 RAM Then I upgraded the drive to a Samsung 960 PRO (1TB PCIe NVMe drive). Not a task for the feint of heart! I'm pretty technical and it took several days to work through all the roadblocks and several times I thought I'd destroyed the machine. I'm no longer a fan of Acronis True Image, but Macrium Reflect saved the day and worked like a charm. Nobody makes a M.2 to USB enclosure for PCIe NVMe, so you cannot image to a drive upgrade like can be done with HDs & SSDs. So I got the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB external HD to hold & restore the drive images for the 2-step migration process. Dell Thunderbolt Dock for when at home, to give a one-cord solution for power, network, keyboard, mouse, etc. Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum wireless and wired gaming mouse Corsair K70 LUX RGB keyboard for when at home & docked Twelve South BookBook laptop case (designed for Macbook Pro Retina, but the dimensions are spacious enough for the XPS). I'm a fan. Really. No, really. I've been playing the franchise for over a decade and all my game time goes to this one game. Tried others, but this is my addiction.
  4. Male or female

All 12 are male except thief (because dagger 2 is "heartseeker") and mesmers (class & armor seemed suited to female characters).

Did an upgrade on my gaming tower: Asus Prime Z270-AR motherboard 4.5Ghz Intel Core i7-7700K CPU 32Gb (2x16) Corsair Dominator Pro 3000MHz RAM Corsair Hydro H100i v2 liquid cooling Samsung 850 Pro SSD as C: and moved my RAID array from C: to D: and changed it from 10 to 5
  6. How Did You Pick Your Name?

When I lived among the cannibals of Papua New Guinea they named me Xangxa (the X is pronounced as a harsh KH sound) because I was so tall -- Xangxa means "The Big One." Although I jokingly tell people it would now mean "feeds family of 8" since I'm no longer the beanpole of my youth. I've always gone by Xangxa when it's anything adventurous, including exploring worlds like GW2. Because people mispronounce Xangxa, I substitute Khangga for my characters' in-game first names.
  7. Khangga = Xangxa

Hey, all. Sorry for the belated introduction considering I first joined TTS back in 2014. I returned at the end of last summer, and I'm pretty quiet on Teamspeak. Although, I can't resist playing y'all the occasional snippet of music when the situation merits (e.g., Chicken Dance when doing the Guild Rush in Fields of Ruin, or Hampsterdance when Aeseld says we need more hamsters, etc.). I have a huge 10,000 song library that's eclectic (from Frank Sinatra to Celldweller, Charlie Daniels to Bruno Mars, Collabro to PMJB). My wife says I have a soundtrack in my head with a song for most everything (Her: "I'm thinking of going to Chattanooga to see my Mom this weekend, wanna go?" Me: plays "Should I stay or should I go?" by the Clash). My love for the arts never became a career and I switched from an art major to IT and never regretted it. I work as a Sr. Systems Analyst in the HQ of a large federated company (we own newspapers, radio stations, TV stations, Autotrader.com, Cox Cable, Kelly Blue Book and even a coffee plantation). I serve as the Alpha Geek on our IT team, and I'm frequently solicited for gadget and technology advice in general. Consequently, it's no surprise that gaming has been a part of my life since PONG and the MERLIN handheld. But for over a decade Guild Wars 1 & 2 have been my focus. I've never had the twitch skills to achieve more than "adequate" in competitive play, so PvE and relishing the Living Story is what I do most. All my toons have a first name of Khangga (e.g., Khangga Zoo is my Ranger, Khangga Dirge is my Necro, etc.). Khangga is a compromise for XANGXA (people mistakenly pronounce each X as a Z instead of a guttural Chi/Kh so I'm forced to use the "Khannga" spelling instead). The name Xangxa is the name given to me by cannibals in Papua New Guinea when I lived among them in the 80s. It means "The Tall One" although I've joked it would now mean "Feeds Family of 8." So Xangxa represents the adventurer, explorer, and traveler side of me and what I use for GW2.
  8. Craft/Hobby Time! What do you do IRL?

I have several hobbies, but of the crafting variety, I've been hand decorating furniture lately. Building the Wing by Craig Given, on Flickr
